Future Development :

A development plan dated 9 September 2008 released by Majlis Daerah Kuala Selangor (MDKS), the local authority responsible for the administration of the Kuala Selangor District, among others disclosed that future expansion for this township would include the completion of a university (UITM) by the year 2014, on an area demarcated of 1,085.75 acres (4.3939 km2), comprising 15 faculties capable of supporting 40,000 students and staffs. The same report projected that 65,798 additional units of houses/residences would be completed by the year 2015, capable of accommodating 350,000 population as compared to the current reported number of population of 25,000.
The latest Local Planning Masterplan for the year 2015 released by MDKS envision the addition of a water theme park and also a Light Rail Transit facility (linking Bestari Jaya, Puncak Alam and Shah Alam).

DASH Highway

The Damansara-Shah Alam Elevated Expressway (DASH) is a 20.1 km, 3-lane, dual carriageway expressway that will commence at the Puncak Perdana U10 Shah Alam intersection and serve as a link for Puncak Perdana, Alam Suria, Denai Alam, Kampung Melayu Subang, Jalan Sungai Buloh, RRIM, Kota Damansara, Damansara Perdana and Mutiara Damansara. It will end at the Penchala interchange, linking road users to LDP and SPRINT highways. 12 interchanges will be built along the alignment. The proposed expressway is expected to support rapid developments along the alignment covering U10 Shah Alam, Subang, Kota Damansara and Damansara areas.

Benefits of DASH

As an alternative route for Persiaran Surian at Kota Damansara which has capped its road capacity
The rapid development along Shah Alam and Jalan Batu Arang corridors require an additional road capacity
As Subang Airport becomes the main low cost carrier terminal in 2015, DASH will become an alternative and easier route to the airport
It will act as a link between east and west of Klang Valley by crossing over NKVE and linking existing highways namely GCE, LDP and SPRINT
RRIM’s development in the area is expected to increase population by 300,000 which will cause congestions to the existing routes. DASH will be a solution to this problem.

Projek ‘Super Hospital’ UiTM-PUNCAK ALAM

MONTREAL (KANADA) 21 Sept. – Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) bakal maju setapak lagi melalui usaha penubuhan “Super Hospital” yang dilihat mampu melonjakkan nama dan kredibiliti institusi pengajian tinggi itu ke persada dunia.
Naib Canselor UiTM, Prof. Datuk Ir. Dr. Sahol Hamid Abu Bakar berkata, UiTM sudah bersedia untuk menjadi perintis kepada projek hospital yang dianggar menelan belanja RM22 bilion itu.
“Projek ini diramalkan meletak UiTM di peta dunia,” katanya yang ditemui pemberita selepas majlis menandatangani perjanjian kerjasama antara UiTM dan Pusat Kesihatan Universiti McGill (MUHC) di sini, semalam.
Perjanjian persefahaman itu bakal menyaksikan kedua-dua institusi berkenaan berkongsi pengetahuan dan kepakaran untuk membangunkan sebuah hospital pengajar yang menyediakan kemudahan perubatan bertaraf dunia yang terkini dan terbaik.
Perjanjian kerjasama seumpamanya akan turut ditandatangani oleh UiTM dengan dua lagi institusi pengajian tinggi antarabangsa iaitu Universiti Harvard dan Hospital John Hopkins dalam masa terdekat.
Pada majlis sama, UiTM turut menandatangani perjanjian dengan Institusi Penyelidikan Pusat Kesihatan Universiti McGill (RI MUHC) bagi mendapatkan kerjasama dalam bidang kardiologi, kanser dan penjagaan kesihatan warga tua selain perjanjian persefahaman untuk pertukaran tenaga teknikal, penyelidik dan pelajar di antara kedua-dua institusi berkenaan.
“Tujuan kita untuk bina hospital ini juga berdasarkan titah Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan (Zainal Abidin) ketika majlis konvokesyen yang lepas di mana baginda bertitah supaya UiTM mengadakan hospital di mana kita bukan sahaja boleh mempromosikan pelancongan perubatan tetapi juga memberi peluang luas kepada pelajar kita untuk mendapatkan latihan dan pengalaman,” katanya.
Dr. Sahol Hamid berkata, projek itu dijangka memberi impak besar kepada negara dari segi penyediaan tempat penyelidikan perubatan yang canggih, pendedahan kepada pelajar dan tenaga pengajar selain sejajar dengan sasaran Malaysia untuk mempromosikan pelancongan kesihatan.
Beliau berkata, sekiranya projek itu diluluskan, “Super Hospital” UiTM yang merupakan projek Fakulti Perubatan dan akan dibina di kampus UiTM di Puncak Alam, Shah Alam dan bakal menjadi hospital pertama di negara ini yang mencapai status “Hospital Super”.
Bagaimanapun, katanya, projek itu akan dilaksanakan secara berperingkat-peringkat berdasarkan kemampuan kewangan UiTM dan dijangka mengambil masa 10 tahun untuk lengkap sepenuhnya. Hospital itu dijangka dapat beroperasi dalam tempoh tiga tahun akan datang.
“Walaupun faktor kewangan mungkin menjadi halangan pertama kita, tetapi kita akan berusaha untuk mencari kaedah kewangan termasuk kemungkinan mendapatkan pembiayaan swasta untuk bekerjasama dalam projek ini,” katanya. – BERNAMA
